CARPETS & RUGS in LEESBURG VIRGINIA - MY FAVORITE RUG SHOP is A & M Carpet & Rugs

I love rugs.  Not carpets, rugs.  I love Persian Rugs.  I love Chinese Rugs.  I love Mexican rugs.  I love Scandinavian rugs.  I just plain love rugs.  The day I closed on my home on February 28, 2006, while waiting for the lender's package, I found a wonderful rug store in Leesburg.  I parked in that parking lot because there was a coffee shop where I could read for an hour or so waiting for my loan docs to arrive.  However, next door was the A & M Carpet & Rugs.  I had an adventure in rug purchases. 

I love shopping local businesses and services.  My visit to A & M Carpet & Rugs that day was an adventure.  I've had several adventures there since.  I believe I have 8 or 9 rugs from that lovely shop in Leesburg.

On that day on my first visit, I purchased a fantastic rug for my bedroom and a more colorful rug for the foyer.  I love red accents and the rug for the foyer offers just enough red to complement the red Chinese Chair. 

 

 

A subdued rug for the Master Bedroom does not overpower but pulls the room together beautifully.

I love the Foyer and the rug that compliments the Chinese chair says "Welcome to Lenn's home".

 

Rugs of all types, colors, designs and origins - "decisions, decisions".  "AH, THAT ONE! 

What I was shopping for today was a colorful rug to put in front of the cook center in my Kitchen.  Eureka!  I found it!

 

Perfect for an area rug on hardwood flooring in the Kitchen.  I love the colors. 

Another rug from A & M Carpet & Rugs in what would be a breakfast nook, but I made into a "cafe".

 

This is a very large woven area run in the Family Room.  Moving to the Rec Room, a Contemporary rug seemed to fit the need.  The A & M Carpet & Rug shop has rugs, wall-to-wall carpet, tiles, hardwoods, tiles for back splashes.  I need a back splash in my Kitchen.  I'll have to visit A & M again soon.

LOUDOUN COUNTY IS WELL KNOWN FOR OUR EXCELLENT VINEYARDS.  

TOURING HOMES FOR SALE IN LOUDOUN COUNTY VIRGINIA.  Touring homes in Western Loudoun County this week we are always fascinated by the number of vineyards throughout the area.  As you drive through the countryside of Loudoun County, many signs will direct you to vineyards.  This area offers rolling hills, farms, estates, horse farms and family homes, primarily on 3 acres or more.  Many have a spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountain Range.   

VISITING VINEYARDS IS ALWAYS FUN.  Our tour of homes this week took us to the Breaux Vineyards, in Hillsboro (Purcellville), Virginia.  Located just off Route Harpers Ferry Road on Breaux Lane, the Vineyard is only about 35 minutes from Leesburg, 20 minutes from downtown Purcellville and minutes from Harpers Ferry.   

Breaux Vineyards is also a winery.  For wine lovers, a visit to Breaux Vineyards will be an adventure.  Touring Vineyards is popular in Loudoun County which is home to over 25 popular vineyards throughout Loudoun County.  However, the Breaux Vineyard is also a Winery. 

Wine tasting is a popular past time with visitors to Loudoun County.  Wines from the Breaux Vineyards include: 

• White Wines Dry:  Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Madelines Chardonnay, Syrah Rose'
• White Wines Sweet:  Jen's Jambalaya, Chere Marie, Soleil
• Red Wines:  Equation, Marquis De Lafayette, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Nebbiolo
• Specials:  Sweet Evangeline, Barrel Select Chardonnay, Jolie Blond

BREAUX VINEYARDSis on about 404 acres with grapes planted in 1985.  The soil in Loudoun County is known to grow good grapes for wine making.

The Virginia landscape in Western Loudoun County is peaceful with many farms and small horse properties.  To the west will always be the Blue Ridge Mountain Range inviting you to the Shenandoah National Park and one of the most beautiful areas in Virginia. 

   

NOT JUST A VINEYARD.  BREAUX IS A WINERY.

FISHING IN FAIRFAX COUNTY VIRGINIA, LAKE BURKE IN BURKE VIRGINIA IS A WONDERFUL "FISHING HOLE".

POPULAR FRESH WATER FISHING AT LAKE BURKE.  With about 220 acres of lake at Lake Burke, there is room for all.  There is a type of fish for just about everyone in Lake Burke ranging from Largemouth Bass, Muskie, Walleye, Channel Catfish, Bluegill and Crappie.  Lesser known White Perch, Yellow Perch, the huge Redear Sunfish and an Blue Catfish can be caught. 

Anglers can fish the many miles of shore or rent a boat and take to the water where the deep water can be reached.  Deeper and colder water are where you're more likely to find Muskie and Walleye.  Of course, in the hot summer of Fairfax County, don't be surprised if the Largemouth Bass have "gone deep" to water with cooler temperatures and more oxygen.  Experienced fishermen know.  Of course, the early morning is still good for shore and close in boat fishing. 

Privately owned boats with electric motors are permitted on the lake. No gasoline powered water-craft are permitted. Nominal fees are required for boat rentals, camping, carousel, train and other activities. No swimming please.

In the early spring, the Crappie will school and can be caught in abundance and a more delicious fish is not found in this area. 

With miles of shoreline, anglers can take their time and work the edges for lovely feisty Bluegill.  My little "Black Gnat" fly produced about a dozen Bluegill this week in about 1/2 hour of fishing.  What could be more fun?

DECLINES IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA COUNTIES BETWEEN JULY 2006 and JULY 2009.

The decline in home prices have encouraged many home buyers into the market.  First time home buyers and looking for well priced homes and investor buyers are looking to foreclosures for rental properties. 

YES, PRICES ARE ATTRACTIVE.  Home owners in Maryland experienced significant price declines between July 2006 and July 2009.  Properties in some counties declined in price more than others as a percentage of the SOLD price. 

Some counties have depreciated more than others.  Transportation alternatives, public school ranking are some of the factors that contribute to a buyer's selection of areas.  Proximity to employment is usually a huge factor.  Our speculation is a reflection of our experience in the market place and the stated reasons that home buyers give as their preference for location, location, location.

The #1 reason prospective buyers give for wanting to buy a home in Fairfax and County is the public school ranking.  A high number of Fairfax County prospective buyers are also seeking luxury homes in McLean, Great Falls and Vienna.  These luxury home markets attract a unique buyer.
