Well, I just gained a higher respect for the weather professionals. They predicted that snow would begin in MD and VA at about 10:00 a.m.
The snow began at 10:00 a.m.
That's almost scary. It's like they "turned the switch".

Fortunately, in Loudoun County, VA, VDOT does a good job of clearing the highways and local roads where my house is located. Lovettsville is lovely in the snow. It's equally lovely in the spring, summer and fall.

Lenn, It looks like it's time to make some snow angels in your area!
Wanda. HA! I just want to take a nap and when I awake it will be GONE.
Lenn, it does look beautiful, but I wish spring would hurry. Ours is about to start around 7 tonight and we're only expecting about 6 inches. It will be beautiful to look at, with the river in the background and great for skiing but hard for those who have to get around in it.
Lenn - Up here in NY we might be getting a brush of it, but it sounds like you're really expecting a DOOZY. ...Got milk?
And it is heading my way ... Looks to be a very fun weekend with the 3 kids. As far as the weatherman ... you know the saying, even a blind squirrel ..." :)
Steve. I'm developing a new respect for the weather folks.
Carol. HA! Got milk. Got what ever I need.
Suesan. Indeed. I'm in for the weekend and that's not a problem. But, folks who have to drive in it have my best wishes for safety.
Our Weather professionals are right twice a day, they nail sunrise and sunset =) STAY WARM!
Lenn, They changed our time to 11:00 am and, by golly, at 11:10, it started! Car is backed into the garage, enough food, a generator...just in case we lose power. I am in for the duration.
My shovels and snow blowers are ready for my weekend exercise.
Paul. Funny. Actually, I rely on that sunset time to know when to head for home. I do not like to drive these country roads in the dark.
Margaret. It is quite a change from years past when they'd predice 6-8 inches and we'd get a brushing or nothing.
I don't have a generator but I do have a fireplace. Thanks for reminding me. I'm going to go back my vehicle into the garage. I have a contract with my landscapper who clears my driveway which is about 140 feet long. No way I'm going to shovel that.
That house looks great in snow, Lenn! With the diagonal line of clouds at the roof line, the photo is perfect.
I'd better check the weather- per Carol (above), a dusting; per Steve (above) more than that- nice to know that accuracy is more likely than not from our forecasters, because I am most definitely not prepared...
Maria. Thank you. I always try to find the best "frame" for a photo subject.
Laurie. HA. I was so prepared for the Y2K disaster, I was almost sad it never materialized.
Now if only we could find someone that accurate with "Lottery numbers!" LOL! The photo looks great! I was up there for the storm before Christmas. I've not seen a lot of snow living here in Atlanta...It was an adventure, but I know it can become trying after a while.
Jim. One man's adventure, is another girl's pain in the . . . . . .
Lenn, it started here at 11:00 am, exactly one hour before the DC public schools and Federal government sent everyone home. So far, it's really heavy, wet snow and nothing in sticking. Now that'll change in a while! Enjoy your snow days.
Well Lenn down south we just have a cold rain. And I just want to take a nap and wake up to sunshine myself. I really NEED a week of sunshine. And I emailed my weatherman and he just didn't listen?!?!
Patricia. You'll get it. It's beginning to stick out here. Still not heavy. I turned my vehicle around headed out of the garage. I don't know why. I'm not going anywhere.
Tammy. What's going on. E-mail the weatherman and they don't listen. I e-mail Obama all the time. He doesn't listen either.
Give me your ice, your chilling winds, but without Snow ... that isn't Winter in my book. The subtle dandruff of Mother Nature is now falling and it is absolutely beautiful. Enjoy the weekend, Lenn.
Jason. I'm just hoping my electricity stays on. So far, so good. The TV went out, DirectTV at 7:00 p.m.
... but last week they called for snow showers and we got 3-5" in Frederick & Hagerstown. It took me over an hour to go from Cave Town (Rt 64/ 77) to get to Dual Highway (Hagerstown). I love showings in the snow !!!
Jim. That snow last week ws a surprise. The one yesterday was not. I'm not going anywhere.
Lenn, It started in southern maryland at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and it has just started to slow down at 7:15p,m, Saturday evening. I'm really finished with this weather I want sun, sun, sun. Barbara
From the desk of David Dee,
Lenn, that is a beautiful picture you've captured. Too bad where I live we tend to have one season...sunny...except as of late where it's been raining like heck. Not too much to complain as we don't have that heap of snow you've got there. Looks like the weather forecast is very good compared to NAR's. :D
David. Mmmmm. I seem to hear news of mud slides and houses and autos burried in mud and water.
Looks like every location has it's own hazzards.
