New Homes in Loudoun County, Virginia, Buyer REBATE

I KNEW THERE WAS A USE FOR THAT HILL BEHIND MY HOME. SLEDDING IN LOVETTSVILLE, VIRGINIA

I have an incline (O.K. hill)  behind my home that is perfect for sledding.

Some folks got all bundled up and headed for my house with their sleds.  No one can drive the driveway to my house, but my neighbor had cleared his and there is parking there.

UP THE HILL

             Up the hill

DOWN THE HILL

          Down the Hill

The exposure isn't too good because there's still snow coming down.

Snow accumulation is now about 2.5+ feet but the snowfall has subsided quite a bit.  Unfortunately, the wind has picked up and is predicted with up to 40 m.p.h gusts.  My fingers are crossed.

Lenn....I hope you don't lose power.....that's the worst part of the wind gusts.

Lenn,

We are so very jealous in Atlanta.  We'd really like to get a few inches of that white stuff and do some sledding!  I realize 2.5 feet might be a bit much.

All the best, Michelle

Lenn:  This is unreal.  I hear it's the most snow we've had from a single storm since 1922.  And it's going to snow again on Tuesday!

Posted by Chris Ann Cleland, GRI, SFR (Long & Foster, Gainesville, VA) about 1 month ago

Chris.  That 1922 of 28 inches of snow was for DC.  I have more than 28 inches now.  This is just extraordinary.

Michelle.  A bit much???  Yep.  2.5 feet is a bit much.

Barbara.  Indeed and I'm still concerned about that.

Lenn - It looks like the snow is pretty deep. I'll stop complaining about the weather in Tennessee.

Hi Lenn, One has to love the colors of the outdoor gear. Even with the snow falling, the photos are an accurate detain of the experience. Well done!

Larry.  You better.  This is unprecedented.

Posted by Lenn Harley, Homefinders.com, MD & VA Homes and Real Estate about 1 month ago

William.  The kids were happy to trek through the snow to get up and then sled down.  I took the photos from the window in my sun room.

I have no intention of getting into that stuff.

Posted by Lenn Harley, Homefinders.com, MD & VA Homes and Real Estate about 1 month ago

Lenn - now where is your sled :) - stay safe, but as long as you have a working TV set you'll be alright. Enjoy the comfort of your home.

Petra.  Thanks.  That is my goal for the entire weekend.  In fact, until my driveway is cleared, that's my goal for the foreseeable future.

Lenn- smart cookie taking photos through the window of the warm house. :)  I wouldn't get out in that either.

Posted by Tammy Lankford/Broker Lane Realty Lake Sinclair-Central GA about 1 month ago

Tammy.  HA!  The closest I have gotten to this mess is reaching out to sweep the TV dish and to look out windows and doors for photos.

Lenn, we have a hill in the back of our house, and the neighbors kids come over for sledding. My husband went out with them a couple of times and joined in the fun.  I would have gone as well, but just recovering from surgery and thought best to just watch from inside.  We have had so much snow here in WV and posted on this, but now it is getting to the point...I just want Spring.

Posted by Rebecca Gaujot Lewisburg WV Realtor (Coldwell Banker Stuart & Watts Real Estate) about 1 month ago

Children will remember this storm for a lifetime.  Those are always thebest days in our life.  Stay warm Lenn!

Posted by Jim Crawford ~ Atlanta Real Estate-ABR E-PRO (RE/MAX Greater Atlanta) about 1 month ago

Rebecca.  It finally stopped about two hours ago.  The sun came out for a while then went over the horizon.

It's over, but will not be forgotten.

Spring can't come too soon.

Jim.  Thanksfully, I foget the bad storms in detail. and just recall that "that was a big one".

Lenn, I have never experienced that much snow.  I am from Jamaica where 70 degrees is considered cold. I love to see pictures of snow, but that's it.  Here is the kicker, I hope the weather does not get too warm too soon, you could have another natural disaster on your hand.  Good Luck!

Posted by C Lloyd McKenzie, MBA, e-PRO, CDPE (ALLSTAR REALTY, LLC) about 1 month ago

C. Lloyd.  HA!  Pictures of snow are enough for me too.  There is not one thing I enjoy about it.  Not to worry about the temperature.  Cold weather is the forcast for the next week.

Oh my goodness1 it's so hard to imagine you with all that snow. Looks more like the storms we get up here!

Monica.  Absolutely.  This is very unusual.

I'm trying to figure how man-made climate change is causing it.

Posted by Lenn Harley, Homefinders.com, MD & VA Homes and Real Estate about 1 month ago

WOW!!! That's a lot of snow you have going on. I have never seen snow like that. In fact I haven't even seen snow in 25 years.  I need a vacation.

Posted by Bryant Tutas-Tutas Towne Realty, Inc about 1 month ago

Lenn - Hope you got out there and played a little. It's rejuvenating.

Posted by Carol Culkin (Houlihan Lawrence Realty) about 1 month ago

Hi Lenn. That vehicle in the first picture looks like it's been stuck in the snow. I've been watching the news coverage and hope that people are careful out there. I heard about the father and his son who were killed by a truck. Hope all is well and warm. ~ Lana

Posted by Lana Robbins P.A., GRI, Realtor ® in Tampa Bay, Florida (Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate LLC) about 1 month ago

Bryant.  If you're taking a vacation, go south, that would be Key West.  The weather is great there.

Carol.  Not me.  I'm fine.  Not worth the pulling on all those clothes, boots, just to get wet and have to dry them out.

Lana.  HA.  This is my back yard.  No where near a road.

Well, at least the kids are having fun.  Good time to curl up, read, blog and watch the Super Bowl.

Posted by Gabe Sanders, Stuart Florida Real Estate (Premier Realty Group) about 1 month ago

Gabe.  Indeed.  I'm simply waiting for it to all go away.

I have no central heat in my house because the snow drifts blocked the furnace exhaust vent.  We got two feet...

Posted by Brian Schulman - Your Lancaster County, PA Real Estate Professional (Coldwell Banker Select Professionals, Lancaster PA) about 1 month ago

Brian.  Goodness.  Can't you unblock it????

I got over 2 feet, about 30 inches.

Posted by Lenn Harley, Homefinders.com, MD & VA Homes and Real Estate about 1 month ago

What fun! 2 - 3 feet of snow is a nice amount for sledding and building snow men and snow forts.

Posted by Maria Morton (Prudential Kansas City Realty) about 1 month ago

Maria.  HA!  This snow is the only one I've seen in decades that would permit "snow tunnels".

Posted by Lenn Harley, Homefinders.com, MD & VA Homes and Real Estate about 1 month ago

Lenn, I don't think I'd want out in it either.  But watching kids have fun has to be a little joy for you.

Posted by Lisa Stafford (Broken Arrow, Tulsa, McGraw Realtors) about 1 month ago

Lisa.  HA!  The kids are always a joy.  Always.

Lenn,

Excellent photos. You got that feeling of the wind, blurring the photo... Looks you, guys, were hit pretty well.

I find it amazing how kids can find fun on any incline in the snow!  What fun to watch, from the window next to the fire!

Posted by Laura Giannotta Your Realtor 'Down the Shore'! (Keller Williams Realty Atlantic Shore ) about 1 month ago

Jon.  We were hit "pretty well" alright.  It's Monday a.m. and I still can't get out.

Laura.  Fun to watch is exactly right.

I remember loving snow when I was a kid growing up in Dorchester MA. Lots of fun. I thought when I got older that I would move back (From California at the time, but now in Texas). After thinking about shoveling the snow out to go to work... i thought, NAH. I'm good with seeing snow about 3 times a year and for less than a day.

John.  My feelings exactly.  I could do without snow forever, but it comes to my area in N. Virginia regularly, just not in this amount.

With 40-mile-an-hour gusts, you may be able to sled back uphill, Lenn!

Stay warm,

Robin
