LOUDOUN COUNTY VA REAL ESTATE AND HOMES. PURCELLVILLE RELOCATION - TERRY'S BODY SHOP

Jerrys Body Shop in Purcellville VAPURCELLVILLE VIRGINIA RELOCATION PACKAGE, Issue 5 OF 20.

Terry's Body Shop in Purcellville is not a place you want to visit too often.  However, when you need to visit an auto body shop, you'll be glad Terry's is there for you.  Loudoun County residents have well travelled roadways and it's inevitable that we have the usual fender benders requiring the services of an automobile body shop.  My first adventure with Terry's was following a collision with a Deer in November 2006.  Driving along Berlin Pike on the way home one evening just after dark, a herd of Deer, 5-6 animals, bounded across the roadway right in front of my Sequoia.  Of course, I hit the brakes, but BAM!  Western Loudoun County teems with wildlife which is one of the attractions.

Deer in Loudoun County VaThis incident occurred at the beginning of Deer hunting season.  We always have a lot of Deer movement in November at the beginning of hunting season.  Early November also happens to be rutting season for Deer in this area.  The deer have things on their mind other than avoiding big silver vehicles.  Fortunately, I wasn't going very fast, about 45 mph.  I was actually watching for a place to pull over and let the cars behind me that aren't satisfied with the 50 mph speed limit get around me.  They get right on my back bumper thinking it will make me speed up.  It won't.  I just let them go by from time to time and keep chugging along.  Thank goodness the air bag didn't activate.  The Deer went flying off my front bumper, so I just drove on home.  No place to pull over there and it was dark.  The damage to my vehicle was significant but it looked like it was all body work.

That's when I met Terry's Body Shop.  The next morning, I visited my auto service shop in Lovettsville and they highly recommend Terry's Body Shop in Purcellville.

So, I drove to Terry's.  My first visit to a body shop in years.  I hit a Deer in Calvert County a few years ago but my auto repair shop replaced the headlight and body work wasn't needed.  That was in 2004 or so anSequoiad was in Maryland.  Wait, come to think of it I backed into a tree in Avenel in Potomac Maryland about 2003 and a body shop made those repairs.  Different vehicle.  When you spend as much time on the road as some agents do, these things are likely to happen.   Fortunately, I've never had an accident involving another vehicle or person.  Deer and trees are my speciality.

So, I left my vehicle at Terry's and they drove me home.  That was the first indication I had of the superior service.  I told the service manager that I would have to drive to the dump first because I had household trash in the cargo area.  "Don't worry about that Ma'am.  We'll take care of it for you".  I couldn't believe my ears.  In about a week, my vehicle was finished and perfect.  Oh, they came to pick me up so I could retrieve my Sequoia.  That's service.  That was in November 2006 but since then, I've learned that Terry's Body Shop is an institution in these areas.  They're not the only body shop in Purcellville, but the best known.  With this kind of service, I understand why.  I had occasion to visit them again about 6 months ago, but we don't have to go into that.  Terry's service was, as expected, wonderful.

I loved this story about Terry's Body Shop...You're right...though we don't like to think of body shops...we just may need one one day. I heard when you hit a deer you could be injured...hope you were okay....back then.

Sally.  This Sequoia that I'm driving is so tough.  I believe folks are injured when they hit Deer and the Deer flies up and hits the windshield.

This Sequoia is so heavy and sturdy, I hardly felt a thing.  The damage was all to the vehicle and it didn't swerve or anything.  Just sent the Deer to another life.

Behind that plastic bumper that crumbles is a steel one that is part of the chassis.  Great automobile.

Lenn- This is a great testimonial for Terry's body shop.  I hit a deer in Utah once, it damaged my 1 ton van's bumber but also punctured my generator! That was not a fun night!

Lenn, It is always nice to work with someone who has been recommended.

Lenn, I'm glad you weren't hurt.  I've had some close calls with deer (and bear) but haven't hit one, thank God.  Also, thanks for the words on your Sequoia...we'll need a new vehicle (or at least another one; I don't know about buying "new" anymore) and I want something that's not gonna crumble if it hits wildlife.

Terry's sounds like an awesome body shop!  You should send them a print-out of your blog entry w/a note saying "just so you know how much I appreciated your great work."  I can just hear them referring you to anyone who wants to buy or sell in their area!

I guess you don't have to worry with that 'tank'. I think at the most we'd hit a mongoose...lol!

Deer keep body shops in our area busy too. I've been lucky, but judging by the carnage I so often see left on the highway many others are literally bumping into herds of deer.

Running into a deer can be dangerous!  You were very lucky Lenn.  The post reminds me that I have to post a blog about my favorite auto mechanic.  He's amazing and has quite a following.  He too drives you to and from his shop - although we have municipal service for our trash - so that issue never came up.  It's good for people to know what is available when they are moving into an area.

Hi Lenn, Isn't it nice to come across a small business that takes pride in their service? It doesn't happen that often anymore. About the deer? Ruthmarie is right. You are lucky. I have to this point in my life avoided all very large animals crossing our roads. I'm in rural Texas and the other night about dusk I had to slow down to let a pack of Havelina's (wild bore) cross the road. There were about 12-15 of them. Very odd to see. Strangest thing is an Emu running up and down our road. He got out of the fence of the National Forest and was trying to find his way back in! I dialed 911 and they really thought they had a nut case on the other end. I'm rambling. Texas is so weird. I'm glad you're okay. Stay that way. Later in the rain~Deb

Debra.  Indeed.  I always use local businesses when possible.  Supporting our neighborhood vendors and services providers helps our communities.

Ruthmarie.  Thanks.  I've posted about my local auto service folks too.  They drive me home when my car is in for repair too.  The kind of personal services we get in the rural areas are wonderful.

Rosario. I'm not surprised.  The deer that I've seen crossing the roads are usually in herds.

Sally.  You are so right.  A smaller auto would have crumbled with that impact.  My "tank" just kills and keep going.

Pamela.  Shucks, let me know when you're coming and you can look me up too.

Antoinette.  I love this vehicle.  When the guys at the body shop showed me the steel bumper behind the pretty one, I had a new respect for the Toyota.  I had Chevy Blazers for 15 years before this vehicle, but they had no where near the road stability.

Dan.  Indeed it is.  Especially when the services needed are out of your expertise.

Katerina.  This collision destroyed the bumper but it also punctured something on the air conditioner.  Deer can be very dangerous.  I watch for them all the time, but this was in the dark.  Hate to drive in the dark.

Alan.  What a nice thing to say.  Consumers tell me similar things.  I've got a long way to go with Purcellville.  Lovettsville is just a small incorporated village.  Purcellville is a town.

Fran.  You are right.  They do tremendous damage and especially to small vehicles designed to crumble.  You know, the kind the government and the enviromentalists say we should all be driving.  Not me.  I want some weight under me.  When I carry home buyers around, I want the safest car possible.  My Sequoia is wonderful and in all weather.
